Karnataka state government on Tuesday issued an official order to re-establish the Yashasvini Health Scheme, which was very popular in the state’s cooperative arena, and the registration process to get a Yashasvini Card will start on November 1.
CM Basavaraja Bomai had announced in the budget that the state (Karnataka) government would restart the Yashasvini health scheme. A successful scheme implemented in the Department of Cooperation in 2003 was in existence in the state till 2017-18. Later, the government suspended the project.
But in the background of high demand in the cooperative sector especially in the farmer sector to start a successful scheme again in the state, the government has again started to provide health care to the members of the cooperative sector by implementing the successful scheme. Under the Yashavini scheme, the maximum limit of annual medical treatment expenditure for the beneficiary family is fixed at 5 lakhs and cashless treatment can be availed at any Yashavini network hospital in the state.
The scheme will be applicable only to the members of cooperative societies registered under the Cooperative Societies Act and the Friendly Cooperative Societies Act. This scheme will be relevant to the members of the District Central Bank, Primary Agricultural Farmers Cooperative Society, Rural Self Help Societies. 500 as applicable for 4 members in 1 family in a rural area and Rs.1,000 in an urban area.
More than four members have to pay an additional fee of 10% on the transfer to get the successful facility. The government has promised to pay an annual stipend to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The government has not extended this facility to the special i.e. cooperative fishermen, cooperative beedi workers and cooperative weavers.
Yashavini Yojana is special
Unique ID card will be distributed to the members under Yashavini Yojana. If you go to any hospital with the Yashasvini network and show your card for treatment, the complete details of the applicant along with his dependent family members will be available. Yashasvini card has allowed cashless treatment in hospitals. 1650 diseases have been successfully treated under the scheme. Allowed for treatment only in General Ward, treatment can be availed for 15 days after receiving Yashavini card.

Yashasvani Yojana was earlier beneficial in providing health facilities to member farmers of cooperatives and their families. He said that for the benefit of the farmers, the successful project will be restarted on November 1. Telemedicine program is effectively implemented in community health centers. For this, six command centers are being established at the regional level, and a system is being devised to connect all community health centers in the state.
A team of expert doctors at the command center will provide 24*7 advice to the health centers. 7-8 lakhs each. The facilities available at the primary health center will be increased at cost. Along with these, 100 eligible Primary Health Centers will be upgraded to Community Primary Health Centres. Around 81 primary health centers are being constructed,’ he said. It has been decided to conduct health check-up camps for senior citizens at rural, taluk level and zonal level in Bangalore.
Eye check-up for senior citizens, surgery if required, free spectacles for the poor will be started soon. The cochlear implant system is being provided free of cost to poor children with hearing impairment, for which Rs.500 crores. reserved.
