Procedure for selecting SAMS Odisha +3

The selection of students for admission to Odisha +3 degree colleges is strictly based on their merit. The applicants’ test scores and overall academic records are taken into consideration when deciding whether to admit them to the streams of arts, science, and commerce. The information about the Odisha +3 selection procedure for 2022 is given below.

  • Based on their performance in the higher secondary (class 12) exams, applicants are admitted to colleges.
  • The government-mandated procedures for the reservation policy are adhered to.
  • The candidate’s average marks in each subject will be considered when determining the final grade if they passed the Higher Secondary (10 + 2) exams or its equivalent.
  • Following is an explanation of how marks are calculated:

Total Percent = (A * 600)/B

Where A is the candidate’s overall score (neither the top four nor top five subjects will be chosen),

B = The combined (maximum) score for all subjects.

  • The marks in the subject of English will be prioritized when choosing students who have the same marks for the arts and commerce colleges. The second preference, behind English, will go to Modern Indian Languages (MIL).
  • When choosing students with equal percentages in science colleges, the marks in the subject of English will be given preference. Test results in chemistry will be given preference in second place.
  • If a candidate is chosen, only one confirmed seat will be allocated to them based on their preference.
  • Instead of stream-based selection, the Honours (Core) program will use an online mode for subject-based selection.
  • Additionally, online seating assignments for hostels will be made. The Scheduled Tribe (ST) students from other districts will be given preference after the PH/OH students. Students from other districts who are SC (Scheduled Caste) will receive the third preference.
  • Students must pay or receive the differential amount in accordance with the admission fees of the chosen colleges via online mode in the event of a slide up (from the lower option to the higher option). This is done in order to secure a seat for their admission.
  • There will never be a situation where a candidate is permitted to stay at the college of their second or third choice. Therefore, picking a college and a subject are both of the utmost importance.
  • If an applicant chooses not to slide up, they must complete and submit the “Annexure – 7” form online in accordance with the instructions.

Standards for eligibility

  • Applicants must have passed the higher secondary examination offered by the CHSE or a test of comparability in order to be accepted into upper secondary or degree programs in Odisha.
  • Academic performance will be the only factor considered for SAMS Odisha Plus 3 Admission 2022 to various streams, institutions, and honors programs.
  • When creating the merit list, consideration will be given to the grades received in the upper secondary exams as well as any weighting or reservations (if any) given to each subject at that level.
  • For students who pass the upper secondary/equivalent assessment compartmentally, the cumulative grade will be calculated using the average of the grades received in the subjects/areas tested on both exams.

Merit list for SAMS +3

The First/Second Merit List for SAMS Odisha +3 Admission 2022–23 was released at 3 PM on the organization’s official website, samsodisha.gov.in. On September 9, 2022, the Department of Higher Education, DHE Odisha, will release the SAMS Odisha +3 First Admission Selection List for 2022. Candidates can now download the SAMS Odisha +3 2nd Merit List for the examination on September 23, 2022.  The Student Academic Management System, or SAMS, portal, which is run by the Odisha Board department, will have the list available.

About SAMS

The Student Academic Management System (SAMS) is a comprehensive portal that offers a single location for e-Admission into a range of courses throughout the state as well as a number of e-Services to students at the institution level through e-Administration.  Student admission was manual, costly, and time-consuming prior to the introduction of SAMS.  The Higher Education Department planned an online (web-based) admission process after taking into consideration the time and money required for the offline admission process.  Later, this was given the name Student Academic Management System, or SAMS, for short.

What advantages do you have if you apply to SAMS?

  • One common application (CAF) can be used to apply to multiple institutions, saving time and money.
  • Only the students’ preferred institutions will be chosen for admission.
  • Slide-up makes sure that qualified students are chosen for admission to the institution of their choice when they apply to the CAF.
  • There is a single portal with access to all pertinent information about the institutions.
  • On the portal, students can access their notification or other admission-related information.
  • Online systems are used by institutions to manage all admissions and administrative procedures.
  • Institutions no longer need as much staff to oversee admissions and administrative procedures.
  • Because there is only one online application process, institutions can accept deserving students from all over the state.
  • Processes like admit card, RoM, registration card, form filling, etc. have been automated, which has reduced workload.
  • SAMS keeps up the year-by-year database of student information, making it simple for the institutions to access the data.
