Top Performers for TNEA 2022

Renijitha K claimed the top spot on the ranking list with a rank of 1 and 200 points (a perfect score). Each of the top three students, two of whom were female, received a perfect score of 200. Both the general and special category counseling for TNEA 2022 will start on August 25, respectively.

How is the rank determined?

Similar to the CBSE results, the Class 12 qualifying exam results and the students’ performance on the TN Plus 2 Exam create the TNEA Rank List. For students who received the same percentage, the ties will be broken using the following criteria:

  • The authorities reduced the candidates’ scores in mathematics, physics, and chemistry to a base of 200 last year. A higher weight is given to the marks in mathematics, which are 100, while the scores in physics and chemistry are combined and converted to 100,(Mathematics = 100 & Physics + Chemistry = 100).
  • A higher rank is awarded to a student who scored better on the math test.
  • Candidates who received identical scores are then ranked according to their scores in Physics, with higher scores resulting in a higher rank, followed by Chemistry.
  • Candidates for the vocational stream have their scores converted to the base 200.

The transformation will take place as,

  • 100 points for related subjects.
  • There are 100 marks total for theory and practicals in vocational subjects.

If this doesn’t work, the candidate with the highest percentage of marks in the fourth subject’s optional portion will be given a higher rank. In the event of a tie, the date of birth will be used to break the deadlock and determine the order of the competitors. TNEA Random Numbers are not available at this time.

TNEA rules for deciding ties

The exam organizers will use the following formula to break ties if two candidates receive

identical marks:

  • If a candidate receives a higher math score and is given a higher rank,
  • In the event of a tie, the candidate who scored higher in Physics will receive a higher TNEA rank in 2022.
  • If a tie still exists, the candidate who scored higher in the optional subject will receive a higher TNEA rank in 2022.
  • A higher TNEA rank will be given to an older candidate.
  • In the event of a tie, the candidate with the higher random number value will be assigned a higher TNEA rank in 2022.
